I had the same issue. I went with Gold A3H and struggled with baggy pants. Eventually they tore. I switched to Fuji A3 reg and it feels so compressed. Bringing my knees to chest is so much more work. Let us know what works brother.

I'm 5'11 with shorter legs, usually run an A4 jacket from Fuji but the pants tend to be too long so I'm normally in Origin pro pants I believe 34*28s (but I'll prob go 30" inseam next time I need some)
*Edit to say: I have 4 different A4 gis from fugi 2 are pretty much perfect ones too small and ones like an A5 somehow... IDK if other manufacturers have that consistency issue too but just be aware if ordering from there that you might get an outlier

Fuji probably makes the best gis for the money. I like the fit and they are well made. Most are around $130-170 iirc.
Origin makes some nice high end gis and i have two. One of them is like 10 years old and although worn, it’s one of my favorite gis.
Vanguard makes some neat ones but they sell out of many of them pretty fast.

When I first started I bought a used gi from somebody for like 25 bucks. When I decided to stick with it, I bought a few more gis off of people at my school. Everybody has a gi they don’t wear anymore. I didn’t buy a brand new gi until I was about a year in. But I was at a pretty big school, that might not be an option for you. In that case, I would vote Fuji over elite if you want a starter off Amazon. I have Fujis that are 7-8 years old and still in shape.

My only suggestion is if you’re like me and need a little extra fabric around the midsection, Fuji and Inverted tend to be cut a little more generous.
If this is your first gi, you really don’t want to spend a lot. Save that for your 2nd gi

Hyperfly, Inverted Gear, & Fuji have been some of my favorites. Good mobility but don't come loose in training.

Gold Aeroweave is very light and sturdy but faded a lot. If I got one again I’d just do white.
Fuji Saporaito isn’t quite as light as the aeroweave but is incredibly durable and doesn’t shrink at all even in a dryer.

Gold Aeroweave. Extremely light and seem to be very durable especially considering they are 275 gsm. Not IBJJF approved if that's needed.
The Fuji Lightweight kinda makes me laugh since it really isn't that light. It's a mid grade ar 450gsm material. When it was first introduced it was lighter than some.

Gold has a good ultralight gi (aero weave) I use for travel, but you won’t be able to use it at an ibjjf comp. I believe you can use for other smaller comps like Grappling Industries, but double check that. If you’re looking for a light ibjjf comp gi hyperfly’s hyperlyte model is good, but the last few years their sizing has been really wonky. Kingz is a little stretchy and that can be a little problematic when it’s soaked in sweat.
Personally my first gi was a Fuji sekai and it was a great all arounder. My current go to now is VHTS, but they’re expensive and sell out of my size fast.

At my first gym, I had two fujis and they were excellent. I outgrew them (gained weight) and subsequently I have about 8 different non-Fuji gis now, and I still think the Fujis are one of if not the best I've ever used. Surprisingly, I had a Sanabul from Amazon which was low cost and also was an excellent gi for around 2 years of weekly use. I ended up giving it away to someone and it had zero rips or tears in it after 2 years. Out of my current rotation, I really like my Black Atlas Pro 24 for normal weather, and my white Alpine Flow for hot weather.

Hard to find a better long term value than the All-Around series and the Suparaito series. They've lasted the longest of all my gi's.

I’ve been using Suparaito’s for almost 10 years and never cycled any out of rotation, just added more. They are the best gi’s if you want durable, fair priced gi’s that have nice but subtle styling IMO.

Been using the same Fuji Dark Arts Suparaito gis (I have two pairs) from white —> purple; 3+ times a week every week for 5 years. Still like new (a little faded from washing) and fit perfect.

Gold aeroqeave is great but the sizing is weirdddd.... im 6ft 195 ish and a3 is massive on me. A3 on fuji fits perfect.

I have worn basically every gi company that I know of. I have killed 4 over my time.
In my opinion there are two gis out there; Origin and everything else.
Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good gis out there. Inverted, Scarmble, Kings, 93, Fuji are all decent.
That said, my two Origins have been my daily drivers for 5 years and show no signs of breaking down. Pretty much every time I wear either as soon as someone touches it they go, "Ooo...nice gi..."
They really do just simply make the best gi.
100% made in the US too if that matters. Including spinning their own thread and weaving the fabric itself.
Dark little secret of the gi manufacturing world; while some may be cut and sewn in other places almost every gi company sources their fabric from 3 factories in Pakistan.
The only one I kinda shit on is Shoyoroll, not because they are bad but just because they are super overrated and over priced. You do a side by side comparison with a basic Fuji and they are fundamentally the same thing but the SR costs $200 more.
Also, if you go to the Origin factory you can get factory seconds for a huge discount and they will hemm your pants to length right there.

Really thin gis may not last you very long. I've not tried Gold but if I ever can train again I may - I qualify for their 35% discount and I'm only just over the height / weight chart on their A3H; if the legs actually fit right they'll be the first.
Anyway, Fuji Suparaito / Submit Everyone A5 top and A6 leggings was what I wore to my first tournament and it served me pretty well.
Thinnest I have currently would be a tie between a company called Performance Fight Gear (ebay seller) top or Tatami Original v2 top. Durability is about average - starting to wear out even though I mainly only used them when it was extremely hot.
Feel-wise, so far I'd say a gold weave from Inverted Gear, or Datsusara hemp. I only wear the tops because they only sell up to size A5, but they're probably the most comfortable I've found so far.
