Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled when you visit bjjbrands.com, subscribe to the BJJ Brands newsletter, contact BJJ Brands, or are mentioned in its directory or editorial content.

Who is responsible for your data

BJJ Brands is operated by Iaroslav Vinokurov, Serbia. Iaroslav Vinokurov is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

For privacy questions or requests, email hi@bjjbrands.com.

Data handled through the website

Website access and security data

When you open the website, the systems used to deliver it receive technical information required to return the requested page. This can include your IP address, browser and device type, requested URL, referring page, date and time of the request, and technical or security logs.

This information is used to deliver the website, prevent abuse, investigate errors, and keep the website secure. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in operating a reliable and secure website.

The website is hosted by Framer B.V. Framer may process technical data as a service provider. Framer also supplies built-in website analytics. According to Framer, those analytics do not use cookies or persistent identifiers: Framer combines the IP address and user agent with a secret value that changes and is deleted each day, then reports anonymised statistics.

See Framer’s GDPR and cookies documentation, Privacy Statement, and Data Processing Addendum.

Cookie choices

The website stores a record of your cookie choice so that it can apply your preferences. This record remains until you change the choice or clear the relevant browser data.

Optional analytics and advertising-measurement technologies are disabled unless you give the corresponding consent. You can change or withdraw that consent through Cookie Settings in the website footer. Details are available in the Cookie Policy.

Google Analytics

If you consent to analytics, Google Analytics 4 receives information about visits and interactions with the website. This may include:

  • a cookie or browser identifier;

  • pages viewed, page titles, referring pages, and campaign parameters;

  • approximate location derived from network information;

  • browser, device, screen, language, and operating-system information;

  • session timing and interactions such as clicks on website features.

BJJ Brands uses this information to understand which pages are useful, find technical problems, and measure website performance. The legal basis is your consent. Google Analytics and the BJJ Brands custom analytics events do not run unless analytics_storage consent has been granted.

The Google Analytics property is configured to retain user-level and event-level data for 14 months. Retention of user data resets when a new activity is associated with the same identifier, so the 14-month period runs from the latest such activity. The retention setting does not remove data from standard aggregated reports, which may remain available for longer.

Google explains its processing in its Privacy Policy, Analytics data safeguards, and data-retention documentation.

Advertising attribution

If you consent to advertising storage, Google Conversion Linker may process advertising-click identifiers and campaign information so that an action on the website can be attributed to an earlier advertisement or promotion. The website does not need this technology to function, and it remains blocked unless ad_storage consent has been granted.

Advertising-click information stored in the browser is generally retained for up to 90 days. Related measurement reports may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to assess a campaign and meet legal or accounting requirements.

Newsletter subscription

The newsletter form asks only for an email address. When you submit the form, the address is sent directly to Loops, an email service operated by Astrodon Corporation, and added to the BJJ Brands mailing list. Loops also receives the technical information that accompanies a network request, such as an IP address and browser information.

The email address is used to send updates about BJJ brands, gear, product features, articles, and project news. The legal basis is your consent. Providing an email address is optional; if you do not provide it, you will not receive the newsletter.

Loops may record delivery and subscription events such as successful delivery, bounces, unsubscribes, and spam complaints. Where email-engagement measurement is enabled, it may also record whether a message was opened or a link was clicked. This information is used to operate the mailing list and understand whether emails are working as intended.

You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting hi@bjjbrands.com. The active subscriber record is kept until you unsubscribe, ask for deletion, or the mailing list is closed. After an unsubscribe request, a limited suppression record may be retained for as long as necessary to respect the request and demonstrate that no further marketing email should be sent.

Loops processes subscriber data to provide its email service. See the Loops Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement.

Messages sent directly to BJJ Brands

If you contact BJJ Brands by email, the information you include may contain your name, email address, professional or business details, message, and attachments. It is used to answer the message, evaluate a proposal, correct directory information, or take steps you request before a possible collaboration.

The legal basis is the legitimate interest in responding to correspondence, or taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement. Correspondence is normally retained for up to 24 months after the last substantive exchange. It may be kept longer where reasonably necessary for an ongoing relationship, a legal obligation, or the establishment, exercise, or defence of a legal claim.

Directory and editorial information

BJJ Brands publishes a brand directory, articles, reviews, and other editorial material. That work may use limited professional or publicly available information about people connected with a brand or a published source, such as:

  • a person’s name, role, or professional affiliation;

  • public business contact details;

  • a public username;

  • statements, reviews, or comments made publicly;

  • information supplied directly by a brand, author, interviewee, or other source.

Sources can include official brand websites, public social-media profiles, public discussion pages, press material, and direct correspondence. This information is used to maintain an accurate directory and publish editorial content about Brazilian jiu-jitsu brands and equipment. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in publishing accurate factual and editorial information, together with applicable rights to freedom of expression and information.

Public-source information is kept while the relevant directory entry or editorial work remains useful, accurate, and part of the website’s archive. If information about you is inaccurate, outdated, or creates a particular privacy concern, contact hi@bjjbrands.com. The request will be assessed against privacy rights, accuracy, freedom of expression, and the public interest in preserving published material.

Content delivery and external resources

Some website resources are delivered through third-party infrastructure. This includes Google Fonts for font files, FlagCDN for certain flag images, and Cloudflare for media served through the BJJ Brands asset domain. When a browser requests a resource, the provider necessarily receives network information such as the IP address, browser details, requested file, and time of the request.

These requests are used to display and deliver website content. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in providing a functional and consistently presented website.

The website also links to brand stores, social networks, and other third-party websites. Opening one of those links sends the destination the normal information associated with a web request. The destination’s own privacy policy governs what it does after you leave BJJ Brands.

Service providers and other recipients

Personal data may be disclosed to the following recipients where relevant:

  • Framer B.V., for website hosting, delivery, security, and anonymised site statistics;

  • Google and its affiliates, for consented analytics, advertising attribution, tag management, and font delivery;

  • Loops / Astrodon Corporation, for newsletter subscriptions and email delivery;

  • Cloudflare, for delivery of images and other website assets;

  • FlagCDN, when a page displays a remotely hosted flag image;

  • professional advisers, courts, regulators, or public authorities where disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect legal rights.

BJJ Brands does not sell or rent personal data.

International transfers

BJJ Brands is operated from Serbia. Some service providers or their subprocessors operate in the European Economic Area, the United States, and other countries. This means personal data may be processed outside Serbia or the country from which you accessed the website.

Where required, BJJ Brands relies on contractual data-protection terms and transfer safeguards used by its service providers, such as standard contractual clauses, recognised adequacy mechanisms, or equivalent safeguards. You may contact BJJ Brands for more information about safeguards relevant to your data.

How long data is kept

The specific periods stated above apply where available. In other cases, the retention period is determined by:

  • how long the information is needed for the purpose for which it was collected;

  • whether the information is still accurate and relevant;

  • the settings and deletion schedules of the service provider handling it;

  • legal, security, accounting, and dispute-resolution requirements;

  • whether you have withdrawn consent or made a valid deletion request.

Data is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed, unless continued retention is required or permitted by law.

Your rights

Depending on the law that applies to you and the processing in question, you may have the right to:

  • obtain confirmation that your personal data is being processed and receive a copy;

  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;

  • request deletion of data;

  • restrict processing;

  • object to processing based on legitimate interests;

  • receive certain data in a portable format;

  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal;

  • object at any time to direct marketing.

Send a request to hi@bjjbrands.com. Enough information may be requested to verify your identity and locate the relevant data. BJJ Brands normally responds within 30 days, subject to any extension permitted by applicable law.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Serbian Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection. The Commissioner provides request and complaint forms. If the GDPR applies to your situation, you may also complain to the data-protection authority in your country of residence, work, or the place of the alleged infringement.

Automated decisions

BJJ Brands does not use personal data to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on individuals.

Security

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal data against accidental loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If you believe information submitted to BJJ Brands has been compromised, contact hi@bjjbrands.com.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the website adds or removes a service, changes how data is used, or when legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Material changes will be presented in a way appropriate to their effect on visitors or subscribers.
